Costa Rica 150kW Solar Carport Project: Turning a Parking Area into Clean Energy
Release time: 2026-08-11
Turning an Ordinary Parking Lot into Solar Power
For this Costa Rican customer, the parking area was being used every day, but the space itself was not generating any value. At the same time, high electricity costs and strong sunlight made solar energy an attractive option.
There was one important concern: rain and weather protection. A standard ground-mounted solar system could generate power, but it would not solve the parking problem or provide enough protection for vehicles.
The customer wanted a solution that could do both.
A 150kW Solar Carport Built Around the Real Need
After understanding the site conditions and the customer’s requirements, Amosolar designed a 150kW solar carport system that combines solar power generation with vehicle protection.
The PV modules were installed above the parking spaces on a strong metal structure. The waterproof carport design helps protect vehicles from heavy rain and strong sunlight while making full use of the existing parking area.
Instead of looking for additional land for a solar project, the customer could use the space they already had.
For the customer, this meant:
- 150kW solar power generation capacity
- Better use of existing parking space
- Protection from rain and direct sunlight
- Reduced dependence on grid electricity
- A cleaner and more practical parking area
- Long-term value from an otherwise unused space
Why a Solar Carport Made Sense
The biggest advantage was simple: one structure solved two problems.
The customer didn’t need to choose between a parking shelter and a solar installation. The solar carport system provides both, making it suitable for commercial parking lots, factories, offices, hotels, shopping centers and other areas with large parking spaces.
This Costa Rica project is a good example of how a well-designed 150kW solar carport can turn everyday infrastructure into a useful renewable energy asset.
